Mammoth Lakes, Pacific Crest

Mammoth Lakes is a geothermal wonderland nestled in the Long Valley Caldera, one of the largest volcanic craters in the world.  This geothermal activity fuels natural hot springs, making it a terrific place to relax in mineral-rich waters while enjoying the views.

The nearby Mammoth Mountain is an active volcanic peak still showing signs of activity, with small earthquakes and sulfuric springs.  It is also one of North America’s largest ski resorts.

Surrounded by alpine lakes, it is a fishing enthusiast’s paradise as the clear waters are teeming with fish.  Rainbow trout and brown trout are commonly found, but some of the more unique species include Mackinaw (Lake trout) and Kokanee salmon.  Cutthroat trout, native to the region, can also be caught in Lake Crowley and Lake George.
