The Forum was the centre of public life during every period of Rome’s history – from the time of the kings until the reigns of the last Emperors, Romans would gather in this large public place for festivals, demonstrations, speeches and high-profile trials.
Augustus built this foru7m after his victory at Actium and visitors can find many outstanding sites from the Julio-Claudian period here, including Caesar’s Senate House, Augustus’ temple of Mars Ultor and the Temple of the Deified Julius Caesar.
