Tea, Lands End

There is no situation where a cup of tea is inappropriate.  Got into University?  Well done love, cup of tea?  Fell out with your best friend?  Oh dear, I’ll put the kettle on.  On a walk on top of a cliff on a January afternoon in torrential rain and blustering winds?  Someone will bring out a thermos.

The national obsession was born in a London shop, Twining’s, after Thomas Twining began selling tea there in 1706.  The drink caught on with the fashionable and has been all the rage ever since.
