Frescoed Havelis of Mandawa, Golden Triangle

In the medieval period, Mandawa was a common stopping point for merchants from all over India following the Silk Road to far-flung Beijing or Damascus.

Some traders remained in the town after making their fortune and poured the wealth into the creation of these gorgeous havelis (traditional mansions).

They still delight today, showing off their elegant balconies, latticed windows and beautiful, colour-filled frescoes depicting scenes from Hindu mythology.
