Wildlife in the Atlantic Forest, Estrada Real

Along the Atlantic coast of Brazil, stretching inland as far as Paraguay, is the Atlantic Forest.  A tropical forest, it is one of the most biodiverse biomes in the world.   It has the largest number of animal and bird species and the highest endemism.

Although reduced to only 7% of its original coverage, the forest is teeming with life.  Around 2,200 species of fauna have been catalogued, of which 30% are endemic to the forest, many of which are listed as endangered.
