Pinnacle Rock, Galapagos

Pinnacle Rock is one of the most famous and striking geological monuments on the Galapagos Islands.

A slightly eerie sight, it just up from the ground, looking something like an ancient obelisk, and resembles how the island would have looked millions of years ago, before the first animal colonists came here.

Now it is as full of life as anywhere on the Galapagos, a great flock of penguins calls the area around its base home, and in the shallows nearby, there are a series of coral reefs, rich in colour, fish, and sea turtles.
