Fordlandia was an ambitious project by Henry Ford in the Amazon rainforest during the 1920s. The aim was to create a rubber plantation for his car company. The project faced many challenges, including disease, poor planning, and conflict with local indigenous people and Fordlandia was abandoned in the 1940s.
Today,
the site is a fascinating tourist destination, and the ruins of the abandoned
buildings and equipment are a reminder of the ambitious project that ultimately
failed.
