Views in the Great Dunes National Park are cut in two: In your foreground, underneath your feet are the dunes moveable golden mountains where only a few small insects scratch a living.
But follow the view to the horizon, and then you will see, rising in the background, the verdant green peaks of the Sangre de Cristo range.
This
constant contrast between plain and mountain, gold and green, barren and lush,
gives the park a unique character which cannot fail to strike any visitor.
