Angra dos Reis, Estrada Real

Angra dos Reis was built on a steep hill and developed into a port city and has been occupied since 1556.  Although port usage declined for a while with the advent of the railway, the port economy has recovered and is now one of the busiest in the country.

There are more than 300 islands within its municipality, many owned by celebrities, with Ilha Grande as the largest.
