Estrada de Ferro Oeste de Minas, Estrada Real

Located in Sao Joao del Rei is the largest Brazilian railway museum.  Estrada de Ferro Oeste de Minas was a narrow-gauge railway in Minas Gerais with a network totaling 482mi (775km).

The first tracks were laid in the 1870s, and most of them were completed by 1894.  Profitable during the early years, the railway fell into decline in the mid-20 century.  By 1983, the railway was closed and converted into a heritage railway.
