These
tiny hopping gemstones are poison dart frogs.
Their bright colouring, though extremely pretty, is a big warning: “do
not even think of eating me, because I am deadly toxic”.
And
toxic they certainly are, with one variety, the golden poison frog, holding enough
venom to kill 20 grown men. Others of
their variety are completely harmless, yet their bright colouring is just as
effective in warning potential predators.
