Germany
has one of the most criminally ignored wine cultures in the world, and here, in
the sunny far south, grow some of the country’s most famous vines. Offering crisp Rieslings and velvety Pinot
Noirs, a visit to the vineyards that drape the hills around Wurzburg is a
delightful day out.
I
imagine it’s especially effervescent during summer evenings, when visitors can
sit on an airy veranda, glass in hand, enjoying the warm glow of the sunset as
it strokes the landscape.
