Beaverhead Rock, Continental Divide

We love strangely shaped rocks here at The Conqueror; they’re common all around the world, they provide great images for the Local Spots, and they usually have an amusing or interesting story attached to them.  The Beaverhead Rock is no exception.

This large formation overlooks the Beaverhead River and has been recognized for its beaver shape since the time immemorial by local indigenous people.

During their expedition, the Shoshone guide Sacagawea pointed it out to Lewis and Clark, and the indigenous name was translated directly into English.
