Castell
Coch perfectly cuts the figure of a fairytale castle, with its conical battlements
topped by their fluttering triangular banners.
In fact, it’s a Victorian folly, built in the 19th century by the wealthy Bute family.
Still, one can easily imagine a shining knight astride a stallion dashing out of the portcullis instead of the cigar-chomping coal magnate who was the real castellan.
