The Transfagarasan Highway, Transylvania

The Transfagarasan is one of the most dangerous roads in the world, winding its way up the towering Fagaras Mountains to an altitude of 2024m (6699ft).

Known for its hairpin turns, long S-curves and sharp descents, the road was built by President Ceausescu in the 1970s as a strategic military route, connecting the regions of Wallachia and Transylvania.

It is now a playground for motor enthusiasts attracted by the incredible views and exhilarating driving experience.
