Kernow is the Cornish name for Cornwall, a Celtic language closely related to Welsh. Although the number of Cornish speakers has dwindled over the centuries, the Gorsedh Kernow survives.
This
festival is the meeting of the Cornish bards who act as stewards of Kernow’s
history and culture. Like the Welsh
Eisteddfod, the Gorsedh focuses on the artistic patrimony of Cornwall,
showcasing this almost forgotten nation's richness in song, poetry, sport and dance.
